Taking a barbecue on the road

Category: Caravanning

One of the perks of a caravanning holiday is the feeling of freedom, especially apparent when the open road is ahead of you, a sunny sky stretches above and the mouthwatering scents of a barbecue feast await you each evening.

Barbecue cooking allows you to be more creative with your caravanning meals. Whilst many camping grounds will provide communal hotplates, travelling with your own portable barbecue gives you more flexibility. Opt for gas barbecues where possible to minimise the mess created by soot and charcoal from wood-fired barbecues.

You can connect to gas mains at most caravan parks, but remember to carry spare bottles for emergencies. In addition to barbecue favourites such as steak and sausages, you could try roasting capsicums or Portobello mushrooms, grilling fish or cooking vegetable kebab sticks under the hood. Talk to your caravan retailer about external barbecue options. Click here for a selection of barbecue recipe ideas.
