The freedom of travelling on the road can provide an ideal opportunity to escape from everyday life, forget hectic schedules and switch off.
Whilst a caravanning trip gives you the chance to switch off and relax, sometimes television access can also provide relaxation. Installing a TV antenna will hopefully allow you to unwind and catch up on programs that you may not have time to normally enjoy, as well as keeping up with the news.
When determining the best TV antenna to suit your caravan, consider antenna polarisation as it is important to choose an antenna with both FM and AM frequency, as well as vertical and horizontal signal polarity. Look for an antenna that is specifically designed to be mounted to a caravan, and ensure that it is lightweight and easy to dismantle. Digital set-top boxes are a good option to ensure that you have reliable reception on the road.

I live in Townsville and would love to shop around for a satelite system that would serve our TV and computer. Can’t believe there appears to be no dealer here.
Hi there – we also live in Tsv and are purchasing our Jayco pop up camper van through Jayco Prestige in Geelong Victoria – why don’t you call them and see what options they have; we are having a wynguard TV antenna installed, however they might be able to provide you with some other options. Found Tsv dealer a little out of date.
Cheers
You really need to make some additional points in your antenna choice recommendations:
1. Many new vans come with a “Wyngard” style antenna alrteady roof installed. While these are adequate for “horizontally polarised” transmissions, they do not perform well where it is “vertical”. You therefore may need to buy a separate antenna as well.
2. Antennas need to be able to switch between vertical and horizontal polarisations independently for BOTH UHF and VHF.
3. A “through-the-wall” adaptor (for attaching the antenna cable)is much more reliable than the inferior household adaptor screwed to the outside of most vans.
4. A built-in amplifier, preferably the masthead type, is essential for all TV antennas in caravans travelling around OZ.
My advice is to invest in the best antenna FIRST, buying cheap will be bad practice in the long run!
