Of course this is the reason that just locking your suitcase won’t stop anyone getting into your bag. To make your bag more secure secure the zipper fastenings to a fixed point on your bag with a cable tie so the slider cannot be moved to lock the case again.

After travelling overseas for a couple of months, I can sincerely say that combination locks are the way to go. They may be expensive to buy but one is never in doubt about a)where the locks are, if they are left locked on the case, and b)how to open the case. Just choose a combination that you are not likely to forget!

While in Thargomindah make sure you call in at the Visitor Information Centre. It is housed in a beautifully restored old building which used to be the hospital. It has the biggest range of printed information we’ve seen on our trip out west (at least it did two years ago). The garden is lovely too.

I find round containers not to be space efficient. I use the square Sistema “clip it” containers to store: tea bags, coffee, sugar and the cereal containers to store: cereal, sugar and rice. I previously used ordinary containers but found with the constant use of opening and closing the containers the corners would eventually crack and break. The square containers are also space efficient for use in the van fridge.
