The home of Bundy Rum

Category: Drive Travel

Who would have thought a group of sugar millers with a vision to produce rum using molasses (a by-product of sugar refining), would create a product so popular it is still going strong more than one hundred years later?

A trip to Bundaberg is not complete without visiting the famous Bundaberg Distilling Company and joining a one-hour distillery tour. Voted as one of RACQ’s 150 Must Dos, you can see, smell and taste your way through the rum production process, then finish at the official “Bundy Bar” for complimentary tastings. Pick up some official Bundy Rum merchandise at the visitor centre, adjacent to the distillery, or wander through the museum sifting through old photographs, original bottle labels and historical records. Even if you’re not a lover of rum, the Bundy Bear will entertain you with charisma and classic advertising.

Getting there:

Bundaberg is four hours’ drive north of Brisbane or accessed by Tilt Train.
Bundaberg Distilling Company, Whittred St, East Bundaberg.
