Greener ways to use your mobile

Category: Eco

In this technology-focused age, with more than five-billion mobile-phone handsets being used around the globe, mobile phones form a large part of our daily communications.

Whilst mobile phones are small in stature, in large quantities they can negatively affect the environment, through wastage and battery consumption.

Here are four simple ideas for greener ways to use your mobile phone.

  • When it is time to throw out your phone’s battery, dispose of it in a designated mobile battery recycling bin. You can usually find appropriate bins at mobile phone shops.
  • When you are looking to upgrade your mobile, you can donate your old phone to initiatives like Mobile Phone Recycling, which prevents your phone from ending up in landfill.
  • Utilise your mobile phone’s educational capabilities. Some mobile phones include applications that allow you to scan a product’s barcode, and then receive information pertaining to its environmental qualities.
  • Try to adopt the habit of turning your mobile off more regularly to save power.

Just place the mobile phone charger into the same recycle bins the mobile go into. They will take care of them, i believe all the components are recycled :)
