Armor All Gold Coast 600

Category: Events+Ent

Time is running out for RACQ members with a need for speed to secure their tickets to this month’s Armor All Gold Coast 600, which hits town from October 22-24.

Not only do tickets pre-purchased through RACQ include all the events on and off the track, they also give members a sneak peek behind the scenes with a walk through pit lane.

The Pit Walk is only available at 9.40am on Friday, October 22, and is the perfect kick-start to an action-packed weekend.

The race will be the third endurance event of the 2010 V8 Supercars Championships Series, following hot on the heels of the L & H 500 at Phillip Island and the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

However unlike the previous races, the Armor All Gold Coast 600 has an international flavour.

Motor racing superstars including Canada’s Alex Tagliani and Jacques Villeneuve, France’s Sebestien Bourdais and Scotland’s Dario Franchitti will join forces with Australia’s V8 Supercar drivers, clocking speeds of more than 260 km/h around the revamped 2.96 km track.

The 600 km endurance event will be split over two races – 300 km on Saturday and 300km on Sunday – with the international drivers required to complete 30 percent of the race distance.

This year the popular Australian legends category will also return to the Armor All Gold Coast 600.

The action is not confined to the track though, with the adjoining Broadwater Parklands playing host to nightly concerts featuring some of Australia’s, and the world’s, biggest stars.

On Friday night the entertainment kicks off with performances by Ian Carey, The Potbelleez, Static Revenger featuring Luciana, Kid Kenobi and MC Shureshock, Hook N Sling and The Only.

Music legends the Beach Boys headline Saturday night’s program, which will include Australian rock gods The Angels, Noiseworks, The Baby Animals, Mondo Rock, Richard Clapton and James Reyne.

Closing out the festivities on Sunday night will be Empire of the Sun, Sneaky Sound System and The Funkoars.

Visit the RACQ website for information about purchasing member tickets.
