Jazz extraordinaire Diana Krall brings her larger than life vocals to Brisbane this March, as part of an international tour throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Krall’s latest album Quiet Nights(Verve Records) was released in March of last year and features popular tunes by Burt Bacharach, Cole Porter and members of the Bee Gees. The album draws on inspiration from Brazilian music, and combines a variety of jazz techniques and rhythms.
Quiet Nightsis Krall’s twelfth album and, according to the singer, her most romantic musical offering to date. The Brazilian bossa nova rhythms invoke a blend of relaxed salsa, samba and traditional jazz vocals. Krall’s warm blend of jazz and pop conjures likeness to a range of vocal talents including Joni Mitchell, Tony Bennett and Dusty Springfield.
The Canadian singer is accompanied by a 42-piece orchestra and supporting acts Madeleine Peyroux and Melody Gardot.
