Make your own dips

Category: Food+Recipe

Dips are great snacks when entertaining guests. Sure, you can buy them from the store, but have you ever considered making your own?

Dips are really easy to make with a food processor and are also cheaper. Plus, when you tell your guests that you made the dips yourself, they’re likely to be impressed. Here are some great recipe ideas for dips that are perfect for the upcoming Christmas-party season.

Beetroot Dip:
This dip looks fantastic and tastes great. All you have to do is preheat the oven to 200C and bake a bunch of fresh
beetroot and a head of garlic on a baking tray. Spray with oil and roast for 45 minutes, then cool. Peel the skin from the beetroot and squeeze out the flesh of the garlic. Place beetroot and garlic into a food processor and whiz. Then stir in a cup of yoghurt, two tablespoons of dill and serve with crackers or crusty bread.

Homemade salsa:
This is a great addition to a healthy meal or to serve with guacamole. Chop 500 g of tomatoes, one onion, one long red chilli, one small green capsicum and a handful of coriander. Combine this into a bowl and mix well. Stir in the juice of one lemon, chopped avocado and a small can of corn kernels. Serve with crusty bread or corn chips.

Moroccan Hummus Dip:
This is a tasty and healthy dip that everyone at your party will love. Place two 400 g cans of chickpeas into a food processor. Add three cloves of garlic, three sprigs of rosemary and a teaspoon of paprika to the mix. Whiz until smooth then mix a bunch of roughly chopped parsley through the mix with a spoon.
