Kauai, Hawaii

Category: Global Travel

Whales frolicking, seals sunbathing and Hawaiis longest beach are just a few of the breathtaking experiences awaiting you on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.

While it’s very easy to spend your days surfing the generous breaks or lying on the beach taking in the beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere, there are some wonderful cultural gems to be discovered. Here are some recommended Kauai experiences that you might like to consider.

Kalalau Trail:
What lies ahead on this trail is the thing that keeps you going, despite the steep climb and inevitable coating of mud you will acquire on the way. Known as an 11-mile trek into paradise, the trail takes you through waterfalls, sea caves, verdant valleys and stunning views. While the entire trek takes 3–5 days, for those not quite up to the task, there is also a four-mile day hike.

Poke:
A local delicacy, Poke is a kind of raw fish salad, consisting of cubed yellow-fin tuna marinated in seasalt, soy sauce, seaweed, Hawaiian chilli pepper and sesame oil. You can pick this up at most food locales and even the supermarket.

Polihale Beach Park:
Measuring 17 miles of pristine white sand, this is the longest beach in Hawaii, meaning you’re sure to find your own little slice of it. Stare out into the beautiful crashing waves and you might see a whale or two playing on the horizon.
