Singapore

Category: Global Travel

Ever since the enchanting era of the British East India Company, Singapores identity as a transient port of call for a melange of travellers and merchants has remained strong.

But beyond its reputation as little more than an airport hub with stringent laws, is a magical jungle-laced metropolis abuzz with excitement. Singapore’s emerging design culture, carefully cultivated by the government as part of its initiative to make the country a stalwart of arts and culture in South-East Asia, is an exhilarating blend of youthful idealism and expert wisdom.

There are many multicultural experiences to be had while visiting Singapore, but here is a taste of what the city has to offer:

La Pau Sat:
Every evening, the street alongside the La Pau Sat food centre plays host to one of the city’s greatest gourmet phenomena. Lining the small street (which doubles as a busy CBD traffic thoroughfare during the day) are numerous stalls selling freshly cooked satays, served with a cold beer on outdoor tables. Remember to bring your own napkins!

Singapore Night Zoo:
A short bus or taxi ride outside of the city, the zoo’s Night Safari is an enchanting experience that lets you see exotic animals, from elephants to lions, roaming about in what could almost be their natural habitats.

Mustafa Centre:
Located amongst the hustle of Little India, Mustafa Centre is a great shopping bazaar open 24 hours, selling virtually everything you could possibly imagine.
