A guide to cleaning your toaster

Category: Home+Garden

Over time, your toaster will gather a collection of crumbs and grime, usually convening towards the bottom of the toaster’s tray, tucked away in hard-to-reach places.

Regularly cleaning your toaster and shaking the crumbs from the tray will help to keep it in good condition, and save you from needing to tackle a tricky cleaning job.

Here is a brief guide to cleaning your toaster:

•    Always unplug the toaster and wait until it has cooled down completely before cleaning it in any way.
•    Tip your toaster upside down and empty loose crumbs into the rubbish bin.
•    Remove the tray at the bottom of the toaster (if it is removable), and clean it with a damp cloth and vinegar. Be careful not to use a cloth that is too saturated, as you need to ensure that no water drips over the toaster.
•    Some crumbs might be burnt onto the side of the toaster. Use a damp toothbrush or small pastry brush to brush away the charred grime.
•    Leave the tray out of the toaster for half an hour to dry.
•    Wipe down the outside of the toaster with the vinegar solution.
