Choosing the right pillow

Category: Home+Garden

A pillow can make the difference in your quality of sleep, body and neck stiffness, and rest time.

As the average person will spend more than one third of their life sleeping, it can be worthwhile to invest in a good quality pillow. When choosing a pillow it can be difficult to know what qualities to be selecting, especially when there are so many different types on the market.

Firstly, look for a pillow that supports your neck and head, allowing the back to lie straight during sleep. Also, take into account what you are looking for in a pillow, depending on managing allergies, insomnia, snoring, back pain or pregnancy. The softest and most luxurious pillow is made from feathers, and moulds to the shape of your neck to ensure comfort. Foam pillows are specifically designed to support your neck and back and can be the best type to support those with body stiffness. Finally, consider using a pillow protector, which is a slip used to shield pillows from dirt and protect you from dust and allergies.

The best pillow which I have had for many years is a buckwheat pillow. Better than feathers for moulding your head to your needs.
They were advertised many years ago on those funny early am infomercials on TV.

I give up! My three children and I suffered neck injuries in a car accident several years ago and I have paid from $300 to $10 for pillows; buckwheat, feather, memory foam, every shape, every density, you name it and we have yet to find a pillow that provides just the right support. It can be a very expensive exercise. Now I find it hard to believe any claims manufacturers say about their miracle product.

OK I have tried several as well. Now I’ve just got my “Made to measure pillow” You can get measured @ several places – go online to http://www.pillowsmtom.com.au to find out more & locations to get measured. Lovely & comfortable – they are a latex foam – not too soft or too firm. I have had lots of neck & shoulder probs before. Tempur pillows are also fantastic – they have several types. You have to try in store to find the most suitable one – Domayne have them or you can go to their store in Byron Bay.
