Australia is home to more than 1,275 species of ants, many of which have a tendency to invade our kitchens, benches and tables.
When hundreds of ants are scurrying all over our living spaces, it can be tempting to reach for the insecticide. However, it is important to be mindful that ants play a vital role in the animal food chain. A natural approach to regular household ant removal will be beneficial your health and kinder to the environment.
These environmentally friendly hints will hopefully help you to evacuate unwanted pesky guests:
- You could experiment by pouring lemon juice around the areas that ants appear to come from.
- Baking soda can be a deterrent for ants.
- Place a container of vinegar and a small amount of honey near the ant source.
You could ask your pest controller if you can be placed on a reminder list for a regular home inspection for white ants and termites.

@ debra. Anyone wanting to totally remove ants outside the home. Bunnings sell a product with Chlorpyriphos in it. A tiny spprinkle and ants are history for good. $16 a large container and about $6 a small one.All other products are really cosmetic and the ants do not feed them to the queen and destroy the nests.(Fire Ant Ranger, Queensland)
We put talc on the ground where we want to keep ants out of our camper. It works well at repelling them.
