First, try to buy real-leather patent shoes, as they will usually last a very long time, and will hold their shine for longer than the synthetic alternative.After each wear, use a soft cloth, such as a microfibre cloth (similar to what you may use to clean your glasses) to remove any dirt or grime from your shoes. This will hopefully make your job easier when you want to give your shoes a proper touch up.Unlike matt leather shoes, patent leather does not need re-colouring, but if you would like to inject extra shine into your patent shoes, you could try gently rubbing a very thin layer of Vaseline across the leather surface.Finally, a basic water-proofing spray is a simple way to look after your patent shoes, and also acts a buffer against stains.
