Whether it is a crisp white shirt, a pair of black pants or an Egyptian cotton bed sheet, there are a few things you can do to help them all stay looking as great as the day you brought them home.
The first step is to sort your laundry into whites and colours, as they need to be treated differently. Remember warm water for whites and cold water for colours. Hot water can make colours bleed, which can make them appear faded and tired. Vinegar and lemon juice are a great natural alternative to heavy duty chemicals, which can weaken the fibres in your clothes and linen. To lightly bleach whites, add ½ cup of lemon juice to the rinse cycle. Try not to soak anything for too long, as this can also weaken fabric and result in unwanted fading. Whites and natural fibres dry well outdoors in the sun, but UV rays can fade colours and manmade fibres so try to dry them either in the shade or indoors. Click here for more laundry tips.
