Continued maintenance of your appliances is an important component to ensuring their safe use and increased lifespan.
When it comes to your laundry, cleaning your dryer filter is essential in ensuring its ability to work properly, provide clean, dry clothes and ensure your family’s safety.
There are a number of ways to clean your filter. If it is easily reachable, you may be able to simply wipe it with a cloth or rag.
If you are unable to reach the filter or you are interested in a more thorough clean, there is this alternative. First, unplug the dryer and pull it out to access the extension of the vent. Use a screwdriver to loosen the vent clamp on the back and slide it off the dryer. Reach into the hole and pull out any build-up. If you cannot reach far, you could use a vacuum to remove any excess lint.
You can also reach into the vent tubing and clean lint out from there. When you are satisfied, slide the clamp over the vent, reattach the vent, tighten the clamp and slide the dryer back into place.
It is also important to regularly check the hoses and their connections to the machine and tap. Replace them at the first sign of wear and tear. Also check to see that the vent isn’t blocked and that the flap operates freely.
