Protons Christmas Cheer

Category: Motoring

Proton is aiming to help alleviate financial woes this December with
the release of what it claims is Australias lowest priced new car, the
1.6 litre Proton S16, four-door, manual sedan, for just $11,990 drive
away.

Proton had intended the S16 to be the lowest priced new sedan, but favourable currency trends will make its pricing job easier. The five-seater is powered by a 1.6 litre Campro IAFM twin-cam engine and its range of standard features includes power steering, airconditioning, remote locking with immobiliser and alarm, driver’s airbag, and CD player.

Buyers will also have their choice of five different colours and a three-year unlimited kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance and a seven-year anti-corrosion warranty. Following the release of the S16 on December 1, Proton will introduce the S16 GX auto variant in February 2010. Increased specifications will be added to the S16 GX in July, such as dual airbags and anti-lock brakes, before the S16 GXR hits the range in both manual and auto transmissions, with alloy wheels, reverse sensors and fog lamps as standard.

that sounds very good but what about safty. I saw where the Proton were one of the worst for safty features and crunched up real bad in a crash.
