A tent provides protection against the forces of Mother Nature, and there are a number of simple things you can do to make sure it keeps doing the job that you bought it for.
Protect the waterproof coating of your tent and avoid leaks by only cleaning it with warm water and mild soap – never use harsh detergents or bleach and avoid spraying your tent with insecticides. Also avoid prolonged contact of any object against your tent.
Do not place cooking, heating or lighting appliances near sides of tent or fabric and do not overstretch your tent, as too much tension may cause the seams to open and tear.
When you get home from your trip, before you pack your tent away, make sure it is completely dry before you store it. Mildew loves a moist environment and it can eat into the tent fabric and weaken it considerably.
