As people become more conscious of the pollution contained in the air they breathe, some are beginning to consider alternative solutions of purifying the atmosphere.
Designed by Mathieu Lehanneur and David Edwards, the award-winning Andrea Air Purifier is the first designed air filter capable of absorbing toxic gases, such as formaldehyde, from home and office environments by enhancing the natural absorptive properties of living plants. The purifier resembles a sleek, unobtrusive plastic bubble, which surrounds a small indoor plant. Using any household plant, the Andrea naturally purifies air by drawing it in with a whisper-quiet fan to propel it through the leaves and root system of a plant, and then out through water and soil filtration and back into the room environment. The Andrea can be placed in bedrooms, kitchens and home-offices that have a tendency to become stuffy, especially in tropical climates.

I’m a firm believer in the benefits of indoor plants. This is a great invention!
