Get into rollerblading

Rollerblading or inline skating is a great way to stay fit. It’s fun, enjoyable and once you pick up the skills, rollerblading can show you the parts of your city you’ve never seen before.
This type of activity is an enjoyable low-impact, high-speed workout that's great for the health of your heart and strengthening your muscles – especially those in your legs. There are various groups around Brisbane that are dedicated to rollerblading. But if you’re on your own, there are other ways you can get started.

• Buy some good-quality rollerblades.
• Then learn how to use them – it’s really easy and much like skiing. Practise on a flat surface before testing your skills out on the hills.
• Take a lesson with a qualified rollerblading instructor or ask your local skate shop for help if you have trouble learning how to brake
• Learn how to stop using your heel brake and make sure to bend from the knees, not the waist, when you brake.
• Always wear protective gear to prevent harmful injury.
