Whether you are trimming your beard or getting swimsuit-ready, shaving rash is a gripe that both men and women may come across in the face of maintaining appearance.
Unfortunately for Queenslanders, the tropical climate leads to more prevalent occurrences of shaving rash, with freshly shaved skin becoming irritated by the heat. Painful and annoying shaving rash can be soothed and potentially avoided with a few simple techniques.
- Prepare your skin gently by having a warm shower, or applying a warm washer.
- Shave in the direction that the hair grows, to eliminate extra stress on the skin.
- Use a gentle exfoliator on your face and legs to remove dead skin cells and promote healthy circulation. If your skin is already inflamed from existing shaving rash, wait until your rash has subsided before exfoliating.
- Avoid pulling your skin taut to achieve a closer shave, as this may cause ingrown hairs.
- Regularly replace your razor blades to eliminate bacteria.
