Start a daily meditation

Category: WellBeing

Meditation has been practised for hundreds of years across the globe and is a central part of many Eastern philosophies.

A daily meditation may be a welcome addition to your busy schedule, as it gives both mind and body a chance to slow down, reflect and recharge.

Rather than forcing your mind to be quiet, meditation aims to draw on inner tranquillity, whilst gently training the mind. When meditating, aim not to fall asleep. Perhaps commence your meditation practice sitting in a comfortable chair, sitting up in bed, or sitting on the floor with a straight back. Rest your hands comfortably in your lap and begin to concentrate on your breathing. Allow your mind to settle and focus on taking long, deep breaths. If your mind begins to wander, gently bring it back to your breathing and focus on your inner core. Start with a meditation that lasts only five or ten minutes and then gradually increase the time each day. Hopefully you will soon get into a daily habit that will give you few moments of peace.
